Who pays for the referendum?

If approved, the project cost would be distributed as illustrated on the right. Minnesota’s AG2School Credit provides agricultural landowners with tax relief on school bonds. It was created to help reduce & equalize taxes for agricultural landowners in rural districts like ours. The State of Minnesota is well-positioned financially to continue supporting this law, and it continues to receive strong support from both legislative parties. If passed, 48% of BOLD’s referendum cost would be covered by the current Ag2School Tax Credit.

What is the Ag2School Credit?

Minnesota’s AG2School Credit provides agricultural landowners tax relief on school bonds. It was created to help reduce and equalize taxes for agricultural landowners in rural districts where, historically, it was difficult to pass bonds because of how agricultural landowners were taxed.
