• Design work for our school renovations reached another milestone in April after the School Board reviewed, and unanimously approved, the construction floor plan presented by Nexus. This is a significant step forward with the project, and the key highlights of the approved floor plans include:

    Enhanced Safety, Security, and Accessibility.

    • A tornado-rated storm shelter ensuring safety during emergencies.

    • A new entrance with enhanced security features will ensure all visitors are vetted before entering, contributing to a safer school environment.

    • ADA-compliant restrooms and entrances to improve accessibility for all students and staff.

    Modernized Learning Spaces.

    • Renovated spaces for STEAM, arts, and athletics to support educational programs.

    • New common areas, a kitchen, and redesigned elementary and middle school classrooms to foster better learning, with natural light and modern amenities.

    • Flexible and breakout spaces are incorporated to encourage student interaction and collaborative learning.

During the meeting, the board engaged in a Q&A session which addressed questions about construction details, including security features, ADA compliance, restroom facilities, and seating capacities, as well as considerations for energy efficiency and modernized infrastructure.

  • User Group Meetings: On March 13th, BOLD Public Schools successfully concluded user group meetings, where teachers and staff representatives actively participated. These meetings (46 total) provided valuable insights, feedback, and specific requirements for various spaces within the school buildings.

Main Floor Plan Set: Following comprehensive discussions and analysis, the main floor plan of the building has been set and ready for Board review and final approval. With this crucial step completed, we are now progressing towards detailing different parts of the building for the larger remodel project drawings.

  • Planning and design phase kicked off to establish the Design Team and provide an over overview of the process. The team reviewed scopes and potential timelines for each project. User groups were defined by building to gather input and a schedule for Design Team Meetings was developed. View Kickoff Details
